Undergraduate
Studies

Undergraduate study at Hoani Tapu is a vibrant mix of learning, reflection, and community. You’ll learn from global theologies intersected with Moana and Māori knowledges, guided by passionate teaching staff, and supported by a close-knit on-site cohort. Your studies combine theological study with hands-on engagement, encouraging critical thinking, creativity, and deep connection to place and people.

Your first year involves studying the Diploma of Christian Studies offered by Hoani Tapu. Weekly tutorials provide space for open discussion, while noho and block wānanga—run in partnership with Te Takawai ki te Manawa o Te Wheke—immerse you in shared learning, worship, and cultural practice. Your second and third years involve further study towards a Bachelor of Theology through Trinity Methodist Theological College. Sharing a campus, whakapapa, and on-site community, your studies through Trinity will include learning from world-leading teaching staff and involve working alongside other Anglican and Methodist students training for ministry and leadership in twenty-first century Aotearoa and the Pacific.
